Big Data Analytics of Mutations & Proteins in Complex Diseases
Shaolei Teng, PhD
Department of Biology
High throughput technologies open Big Data analytics for the fields of biology and biomedicine. This study investigated the damaging mutations associated with complex diseases from thousands of psychiatric patients and healthy individuals. We developed and applied machine learning and protein structure causing mutations and post-translational modifications in target proteins. The findings improve our understanding of the roles of mutations in susceptibility to complex disorders.
