The Founders Library, named in memory of the seventeen founders of the University, is the main facility in the University Library System. Opened in 1938, the building was designed by Albert Irvin Cassell (1895-1969), an African American architect from Towson, Maryland.

Howard University Library System available to Biology Students
There are two major library systems available to Faculty, Staff, Students and Visitors of the Department of Biology. The General undergraduate library is The Founders Library, named in memory of the seventeen founders of the University, and is the main facility in the University Library System. Additionally, The Louis Stokes Health Sciences Library is an excellent resources for accessing biomedical- and health-relevant information, books, publications, and articles.
